Bella Vista Restaurant is located at the end of a row of cottages originally built in the 18th Century in the picturesque village of Laleham – between Staines & Shepperton.

Laleham is steeped in history dating back to the doomsday book. It has no less than 21 listed buildings and is most recently linked to the Lucan family who were historically the Lords of the Manor, Lord Lucan being infamous for disappearing after attempting to murder his wife and nanny.

The original residential premises where Bella Vista now stands, were opened as tea rooms about 50 years ago. There was a grassed area where the kitchen is now and on fine days, tables were set out for customers to enjoy their teas al fresco. Some villagers, who were children at the time, can remember being able to buy ice creams there too.

From those humble beginnings the premises have had many reincarnations – from serving good simple home cooked meals to classic Spanish dining. Throughout the various changes the building has always maintained its cosy, welcoming ambience and sense of history which is captured through the original brickwork and low ceilings. The restaurant was then closed for business in 2003 where it stood, dormant and derelict, waiting for its next transformation.

This takes us to the present day, December 2005 to be precise, when Vincenzo & Margherita established Bella Vista Restaurant – a traditional, family run Italian restaurant. With 30 years experience in the business, they have finally achieved their goal of running their own restaurant independently. This has given them the opportunity to go back to basics, forget the gimmicks! They simply offer traditional, delicious, well thought out, generously portioned dishes at prices that include all the trimmings you would expect.

They are very proud to be able to add to the history of the premises and be part of such a long tradition of serving good food & wine to discerning customers, most of whom they have come to regard as friends. Their only aim has always been to create somewhere were visitors know they will be looked after and catered too in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere with the chance to taste delicious traditional Italian cuisine with a contemporary twist.
